But I could never make my bigger diagrams as clean with those as I could with Visio. Maybe for the simplest networks I could use it. I've tried various online drawing tools, there's some really decent ones now. It's an incredibly effective style that's relatively easy to read, way more space efficient than traditional stencils, and faster to load in Visio - that's how I do 100% of our diagrams now. Although, after a few years spent swapping between various stencils and design styles, I came upon an internal diagram from our ISP that just used very simple shapes (rectangles, lines) with just line types and colors for drawing the eye. Visio - it's the industry standard for this job and you'll find ready-to-go stencils if that's your thing. When the time is taken to document your environment well using Netbox, it acts as your single source of truth with the capability of documenting more detail than you even realized you wanted. It does give you very nice rack diagrams, and you can also have it generate basic "Visio like" diagrams. Visually, it may not give you the "Visio like" diagram you currently think you want, but I would argue it gives you what you actually need instead. From power ports to specifying types of interfaces on devices and specifically what type of cable, length, color, and interface it connects to on another device. I can't even tell you all the details and amount of information I can store.
I can document all devices, all connections, ISP information, racks and device location in racks, etc. I have since moved to using Netbox and I wouldn't look back. My only point there is that they weren't confusing and convoluted because I didn't know how to diagram them well, they just inherently get complex if you are trying to convey every connection. And this is with experience long ago of using 2D AutoCAD to draw wiring diagrams for multimillion dollar home automation systems.
and it always just ended up being a pain in the ass and overly complicated to draw out / understand once it was. I tried the "network diagram" thing quite a few times using systems like Visio et al.
